Studio shoots
The first studio photo session took place to capture the initial look and feel of the project. The use of red and blue lighting was crucial in creating and enhancing the techno atmosphere we were aiming for. These colors added a vibrant, energetic vibe while also introducing a sense of depth and immersion. The combination of stark shadows and contrasting neon accents helped to evoke a futuristic, industrial look, mirroring the raw and hypnotic sound of the music. This visual direction plays a key role in conveying the project’s dark, gritty imagery and atmosphere, setting the tone for future visuals.
The Backpack
Crafted from an eclectic mix of potentiometers, faders, LEDs, aluminum Dibond, screws, precise drillwork, and a tangle of cables, this portable synthesizer embodies a hands-on design process filled with passion, creativity, and a love for detail.
Every component—carefully chosen and meticulously assembled—reflects a dedication to blending functionality with bold, artistic expression. The result is a synthesizer that’s not only lifelike but wearable. Designed to be comfortably strapped on as a backpack, it becomes the ultimate statement piece for the Rodenwald outfit, completing a visionary fusion of futuristic style and retro charm.
We combine the power of analog retro synthesizers, effects, contemporary sounddesign and performance.

The making of the costume elements and stage set
The landing: A handcrafted stop-motion scene
The landing scene was meticulously crafted using wood, paper, and a generous amount of glue, combined with model train grass, plastic trees, and paint.
Every detail was made with care and love to bring the setting to life. The handcrafted environment provided the perfect backdrop for the spaceship’s descent, with every element built from scratch. Once the set was complete, the scene was animated using stop-motion techniques, capturing the movement frame by frame. This process gave the scene an organic, tactile quality, adding depth and texture to the final footage, bringing the spaceship landing to life in a way only handcrafted elements can.
Costume parts
Every piece was thoughtfully designed and harmoniously crafted to work together.
Each element was hand-assembled with care—laser-cut, shaped, glued, painted, and pieced together by hand. The result is a cohesive blend of materials, brought to life with a dedication to detail and artistry.
The Alien font
Specially crafted to bring the synthesizer backpack labels to life, adding a layer of creativity that pulls viewers deeper into the illusion of the costume and set design.
Inspired by the simplicity and precision of geometric shapes, the font mirrors the clarity and impact of the logo, transforming simple labels into a key part of the scene’s immersive storytelling.
X-Rays
In a real hospital , synthesizers, grooveboxes, headphones, and vinyl records were captured in an original X-ray machine to produce strikingly authentic visuals.
This unique approach delivers an unprecedented look inside the devices, unveiling the intricate inner workings and textures of sound equipment. The result is a captivating series of images, blending art and technology for a truly one-of-a-kind visual experience. Perfect for future design projects, these images offer a raw, high-contrast perspective that resonates with the essence of electronic music and its machinery.
